I am reding this article two days, and I am trying get back my likes after switch http to https but without succes. Also, I used kind of plugn for likes, what is collect my likes of http but after new LIKE clicked, all others are reset to 0 and apperas number 1 :) What is frustrating.

I am using joomla, so is there any simple manual how to instruct fb crawler, and what code shall be typed where?

Thank you

Hi , you have suggested that in getting Facebook shares back - "The next step in solving the social share loss situation is to alter the content you are showing to Facebook’s crawler. "

Excuse my ignorance, but I don't know how to alter the contents of rel = canonical tag. I could reach the Sharing Debugger page and can scrape the data but can't proceed further. Please help.

I have a few questions.

After I zero out the shares on both http and https links, then I add an 'http' canonical for the facebook crawler, do I just wait for the crawler to come to my site? Or do I need to go back to the debugger for the https version and hit the "scrape again" button? If I hit scrape again it should show the http canonical if the crawler hasn't visited yet?

:) I have a question - will switching to https also affect counts on Pinterest and you also have to recover them some way? Or are they considered both for http and https as one share link?

Thanks for great article, social shares for FB are successfully recovered with the solution you gave.
A little hint from me: the article is quite long and it takes much time for those who only want to refresh their knowledge on how to do it and don't want many explanaitions. Don't get me wrong, I think it's great that you can know all that stuff and I imagine it's also for SEO purposes ;-) But a short to do list at the end of article (with jump to link at the beginning) would be nice :-) Cheers!

And I know that we are in the era of instant gratification and fast forward for everything, but sometimes some explanations and examples are needed for people to better understand. ;)
