This is something I have also observed. One reddit backlink posted on a subreddit which users interacted (upvoted and commented) and boom, a nice chunk of good referral traffic and hiuge gain ranking if the competition is low. I have seen movement from Page 4 to page 1 on one of my site but the sad part is that this effect is temporary and slowly the site ranks down.

Very interesting article. If you spot a niche that will be trendy and write valuable content, search engine will mark your website as having authority. High-quality do-follow links also give signals to Google that your website is important and must have priority.

Btw, I have also experienced the similar situation but I used pinterest to drive traffic.
But, unfortunately, the ranking improvement is just temporary.
Does it also happen in this study? or, Is the ranking improvement permanent?

something similar happened to me, my site got a link from a site that has a very high DA, and came a few visits from that link, and coincidentally my site came up with some keywords. I keep monitoring to see how far it goes.
