The amount of information that Google holds is, beyond any doubt, amazing and this is maybe one of the reasons we are so connected with this search engine. All the functions and functionalities keep evolving, and even though you might know and admire the really creative Google Doodles and you might have already amused yourself with some of the big G’s April Fools Day jokes, some of you might not be aware of the different secrets that it holds: the Google Easter Eggs.
Blame it on the season, blame it on our curiosity but we’ve prepared for you the most comprehensive list of Google Easter Eggs that I am sure it will intrigue you just as much it intrigued us. We might mention that we are not offering you the decorated or chocolate eggs that are usually used as gifts on the occasion of Easter or springtime celebration. We’re offering you something just as “delicious” from a recreational point of view: the hidden messages, intentional inside jokes, or secret features, in other words the complete list of Google Easter Eggs.
We’ve tried to gather all the Easter Eggs that are available at the moment. Keep in mind that if you want all of them to work, it will be useful to have the latest version of Google Chrome browser. With no further introduction, we declare the traditional (Google) Easter egg hunt opened.

1. The Answer to Life, the Universe and Everything
This is really one of the coolest Google Search Easter Eggs, especially for those who read The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. In his book he wrote that “the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe and everything is 42.” A lot of fans tried to decipher what was the secret meaning of the number, but Douglas Adams himself said: “The answer to this is very simple. It was a joke. It had to be a number, an ordinary, smallish number, and I chose that one. Binary representations, base 13, Tibetan monks are all complete nonsense. I sat on my desk, stared into the garden and thought 42 will do. I typed it out. End of story.” Even though the author said the number was made up, millions of Hitchhiker’s fans still think of multiple secret motivations.
2. Baker’s Dozen
If you go to the search bar and look for “baker’s dozen”, you will see the number 13 on the calculator. A baker’s dozen, a long dozen or a devil’s dozen is 13 and this comes from the practice of medieval English bakers giving an extra loaf when selling a dozen. This represented an insurance against the items being lower than the statutory weight, or of lower than usual quality, which could cause the baker to be fined. The thirteen loaves where never called by the number and were described as a “baker’s dozen” because of the “unlucky 13”.
3. Bletchley Park
Look for “Bletchley Park” and on the search results page you will notice that Google’s Knowledge Panel will decode the name of Bletchley Park and will show it beneath the location on Google Maps. In the World War II, Bletchley Park was the central site for British codebreakers and it housed the Government Code and Cypher School. According to Wikipedia, it regularly unveiled the secret communications of the Axis Powers, the most important German Enigma and Lorenz ciphers.
4. Conway’s Game of Life
This is also among the nice Google Search Easter Eggs. Simply Google for “Conway’s Game of Life”, and you will see a few small blue boxes that move through different patterns and spread over the page. According to Wikipedia, The Game of Life is a cellular automaton devised by the British mathematician John Horton Conway, in 1970. The “game” is a zero-player game, meaning that its evolution is determined by its initial state, requiring no further input. One interacts with the Game of Life by creating an initial configuration and observing how it evolves or, for advanced “players”, by creating patterns with particular properties.
5. Play Atari Breakout in Google Images
Do you want to kill boredom? Well, you’ve finally reached the right place. Go to Google and do an image search for ”Atari Breakout” and start playing. This will be a breeze for anybody who loves the “oldies but goldies” type of video games and it will certainly bring back some memories. You will be able to navigate the paddle by using your mouse or arrow keys on your keyboard in order to destroy all images.
6. Askew
Search for ”askew” and the search engine will tilt the screen for you. This is one of the display Easter eggs that Google has. Everything else still works as it should and if you look for anything else the search results page will go back to normal.
7. Flip a Coin
We have all flipped a coin in order to decide something with another person. The folks at Google seem to do this so much that they had to include a card with an animated coin flip. This time at least, you will know that it is a fair deal.
8. Fun Facts
Do you know when ears and nose stop growing? If you feel like you want to learn something new, go to the Google search bar and write down “fun facts” and be amazed.
9. Feeling Curious
This one is pretty similar to fun facts. If you like trivia questions or you get bored, this is really useful. Google “I’m feeling curious” and the search engine will show you a random question and an answer that will teach you something new every single day. If you click on Ask Another Question, this will never stop. Did you know that the olympic flag was first flown at the Antwerp games in 1920?
10. Roll a Die
This is one that Google made for all the gamblers out there. All you have to do is search ”roll a die” or “roll dice” and the big G will roll a die for you, one out of six.
This is how the tool looked first:
Now, Google has improved its “roll a die” tool, one of its longest-standing Easter eggs, with multi-sided dice. The new version allows you to roll as many dice as you wish. Chose your favorites and roll them all. Previously the users were limited to one six-sided die, now they can roll 2,4,12 and 25 sided dice at once.
11. Play Solitaire
The history of the card game named Solitaire dates back to the mid-18th century. Solitaire gained different names along the time, but what really matters is that now you can simply Google ”solitaire” and you will be able to play the card classics Solitaire in any desktop browser in an instant.
12. Server Status 418. I’m a Teapot
You can easily access the page by clicking here. This is an easter egg which was designed for server and SEO geeks. The teapot page is a 418 response code, which was initially an April Fools Joke from 1998 that was not intended for implementation, even though Google did it anyway.
13. Tic Tac Toe or Terni Lapilli
It does not matter if you call it Tic Tac Toe or Terni Lapilli, as the ancient Romans used to call it, simply Google “tic tac toe” or even “terni lapilli” and discover a game you can play with the computer or with a friend. For a challenge we recommend the impossible difficulty.
14. Spinner & Fidget Spinner
You can go to the Google homepage and search for the word “spinner” and you will see an interactive spinning wheel appearing. You will also be able to choose numbers from 2 to 20.
In the top right part of the spinner, you can change the type between number and fidget. By default, you can see the number spinner. If you want you can change it to the fidget spinner.
Any fans of fidget spinners here? Then Google has a surprise for you. You can directly get the toy if you search for “fidget spinner”. You’ll get a chance to spin the toy from the browser. Spin as many times you want to make it go faster or change its spinning direction.
15. Play Dreidel
Talking about games and easter eggs, you can type “play dreidel” in the search bar and enjoy. For those who do not know, dreidel is a Jewish variant of the teetotum, a gambling toy found in many European cultures. Each side of the dreidel bears a letter of the Hebrew alphabet: נ (Nun), ג (Gimel), ה (He), ש (Shin), which together form the acronym for “נס גדול היה שם” (Nes Gadol Hayah Sham – “a great miracle happened there”). It is great that it is now one of the Google games.
16. Once in a Blue Moon
This is one of the amazing Google easter eggs. If you search “once in a Blue Moon”, Google will guide you to the mathematical equation for the occurrence of a blue moon. The calculator will show the result of “once in a blue moon = 1.16699016 × 10-8 hertz”. Once in a blue moon is something that happens rarely.
17. The Number of Horns on a Unicorn
Similar to the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy joke, look for “the number of horns on a unicorn” and the search engine will show you the calculator with the answer “1”.
18. Loneliest Number
Look for the “loneliest number” in the search box and the Google calculator will show you the answer “1”.
19. Search For “Anagram” Or “Define Anagram”
This is a must in the definitive list of easter eggs. Write “anagram” in the search box, Google will ask you “did you mean: nag a ram?”. For more fun you can type in “define anagram” and it will ask you again “did you mean: nerd fame again?”
20. Blink HTML
The easter egg hidden here is quite interesting. Type “blink html” or “<blink>” in the search box in order to activate it. You will notice that the words “blink” and “html” will actually blink on the SERP. You can see an animated GIF with this action:
21. Marquee HTML
Another interesting secret hidden withing your Google page can be seen when looking for “marquee html”. You will notice that the results count will slowly move from right to left on the page. Check it yourself and see.
22. Google Barrel Roll
Look for “do a barrel roll” and the SERP page will quickly execute a roll. The barrel roll is known as an airplane maneuver in which the pilot performs a 360 degree roll while flying forward at a consistent altitude. It seems like Google wanted to help people understand what this maneuver is by simply showing it.
23. Festivus
It seems that Seinfeld fans will get a nice treat by typing “Festivus”: an undecorated aluminum Festivus pole. Festivus represents a parody and also a secular holiday that is celebrated on December 23. It represents an alternative to the pressures and commercialism of the Christmas season.
24. Google in 1998
For those who want to roll the years back and have a short reminder of how Google looked at the beginnings of time itself, search for “google in 1998” and you will get one of those classy SERP pages.
25. Is Google Down?
Quickly look for “is google down” and you will get the answer in an instant…or not?
26. Zerg Rush
Search “zerg rush” and fight to protect the results on the SERP! If you have ever played a Starcraft game you will know that a “zerg rush” is a tactic which implies gathering a low-level or poorly equipped group against an opposing group in the hope that big numbers will crush the adversary. The search will activate a simplified example of a zerg rush using an army of O’s. When you finish the game, the O’s will gather up in the form of “GG”, which all of the gamers out there will know that it means “good game”.
27. Search for Recursion
The recursion Google joke seems to be a classic. Look up for the word “recursion”, which means a repeated application of a recursive procedure, and the engine will ask you “did you mean: recursion?”. No matter how many times you click it, you will end up on the same page.

32. 3D Easter Egg
This is one of the amazing Google easter eggs. Click here and along with a mind blowing calculus you will see a spinning egg in 3D.
33. Bacon Number
This is another fun Google secret. Type “bacon number” followed by any actor’s name and you will get the bacon number. This represents the number of degrees of separation they have from actor Kevin Bacon, as defined by the game known as Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon. The numbers go from 1 to 6 because there is the theory of six degrees of separation which says that all living things and everything else in the world is six or fewer steps away from each other so that a chain of “a friend of a friend” statements can be made to connect any two people in a maximum of six steps.
34.Valentine’s Day Easter Egg
Do you feel the need of giving your heart to someone? Google made it easier than ever. You can click here and see an Easter egg that might work good for valentine’s day. And if it doesn’t work good for Valentine, at least you will impress the other with a complicated mathematical calculus.
35. LGBT

Basically, each letter is replaced with a similar-looking number. For example, interface will become 1n732f4c3.
Similar to Pirate language, if you change the setting in Google search to Hacker language, you’ll get a new 1n732f4c3.
39. Bork Bork Bork Language

In addition to supporting some of the most demanding disaster recovery and data sovereignty needs of our Earth-based customers, we’re looking to the future cloud infrastructure needed for the exploration and ultimate colonization of the Red Planet. Google is highly dynamic and it’s hard to create a definitive list of Google Easter Eggs. Features hidden within your Google browser will keep on popping out as the big G’s engineers try to maintain a sense of humor through surprises like these.
Considering all the in-jokes, in-browser video games and the hidden features that we have found, we believe that our quest ended here and we believe that this is the list with most of the interesting eggs out there. Have you found any other Google Easter egg? Let us know!

Go to google images and search up “atari breakout”
There is also one more you didn’t add. It’s called ‘do a barrel roll’ or ‘z or r twice’. Basically, you type it into Google and it does a barrel rool. There is also ‘askew’ and ’tilt’, which you can probably guess what they do. But anyways, this is really cool.
Thanks for the updates, Laura 😉
If you type “what is nothing” in Google Search, on the right side of the page there will be the word “Nothing.” As their chosen image to explain it, they left a big null gap instead of a photo! And if using Google Graphs to make an egg counts as an Easter Egg, so does this, right?
I FOUND A BETTER EASTER EGG. One of my fave youtubers, Game Theory (aka MatPat), posted a video about Marioplex, a number bigger than the amount of particles in the universe. The equation is 10^12431. If you plug this in to Google Calculator, instead of giving you “Error” or “Overload,” it’ll give you “INFINITY.” (to type the ^, go to the function and find the x with the little y in the top-right corner of it. type 10 in the calculator, click the x-with-tiny-y-button, and type 12431. Then hit = and the calculator will give you infinity! They acknowledged Marioplex because, technically, if the universe goes on for infinity, then something bigger than the universe would also be infinity since nothing is bigger than infinity.
huh. i’ll try it out
Liar. I just tried… did not work
it worked
any number above 10^308 is infinity
if you put in a number as big or bigger than marioplex, it will also give you infinity. thats waters down the easter egg but its honesty so its good.
there is also a really obscure one. you search text adventure. then you click the three dots at the top right corner of the screen that you usually use as a shortcut to do stuff such as printing. you go to more tools, then you go to developer tools. it will then show you the script for the web page on a sidebar. then you go to console on the sidebar. it will give you a list of instructions, and at the end it will ask you if you want to play a game. type yes. then you have to reunite blue g with all the other letters in google.
That is amazing!
Did you find the secrets inside the secret game?
Some were:
-type “why”
-type “hello”
-type “e1337”
-type “quack”
One weird one was searching “how” showed me, as a result suggestion, the woodchuck tongue twister. Clicking it and searching it did nothing… did that happen to anyone else? Sorry for me entering so many attempts at easter eggs (or so little, depending if you only count good ones).
If you type quack when you get to the duck, an image pops up.
Also “Status”
if you search the woodchuck tongue twister google will give you an answer
If you search “the golden ratio” you will come up with phi. searching “phi” does not, however. you can also search for “pi” ad get it in calculator. maybe you should move all calculator easter eggs to the same part of the list if too many show up? just a suggestion, im not trying to be rude. sorry if most of my ester eggs arent good.
atari breakout on google- search for it then go to images and there you go.
Another thing: search -0 + (whatever) and you’ll see, above the answer where it shows the equation, (-0) + (whatever you put). However, search “negative 0 + (whatever)” and you’ll see, in the same place, (negative 0). Other numbers, when “negative (whatever)” is typed, also say (negative (whatever)) instead of (-(whatever)).
DON’T ACTUALLY SEARCH “WHATEVER” BECAUSE THAT’S A PLACEHOLDER.
This might not be an easter egg, but see this emoji? ? This is the Tanabata emoji, made for a Japanese celebration. It is an emoji of bamboo with two slips of paper, which are wishes. If, in a Google Slideshow, you put this in font size 100 (might work in other sizes) and put the slide in “present” mode, the emoji will change to one rod of bamboo with three slips of paper! Looks like Google put their wish on there as well…
Also, apparently, if you show the emoji on a SMART board, it’ll be one rod of bamboo with 1 wish on it… not sure what that symbolizes, maybe Google’s wish alone? Still cool though how there are three versions of the emoji (Google on SMART board, two lovers on chromebook, Google and lovers on Present Mode Google Slides chromebook).
Lol Yep They Did
OK. best one i found yet. YOU CAN FIND THE HEIGHT OF PEOPLE ON GOOGLE. Don’t believe me? Try searching “dantdm’s height” and see what comes up…
Not sure if this counts, but going to http://www.google.com shows the message “Google Maps has changed the game” under the search bar, and then you can play Snake on Google Maps. Here’s the page in case it’s temporary (which it probably is). Also, did you see the Carmen Sandiego event on Google Earth? Not sure if that’s temporary too though.

These are awesome Easter eggs; thanks for sharing them 🙂
Hi!
When I do the Atari breakout thing, it just starts searching random things. Anyone else experincing this, or is it just me?
Here’s the direct link: http://goo.gl/hb5xa 🙂

Search “Wizard of Oz” then click on the ruby slippers.
That’s awesome, thanks! We’ll update the list 🙂
Exactly the half of the results (there were 81700000 and after the finger snapping appear just 40850000)

Google classroom, celebrating five years, added a button in my classrooms that says “High Five for Five years of Google Classroom!” Clicking it made the hands do a high five. This might disappear after today so try to get a photo! Here’s the image address, that’s all I could add:
https://www.gstatic.com/classroom/fifthbirthday/highfive_hbd.gif?0.28360605277443995
so cool!
The classroom fifth year anniversary also has a cupcake tab in the “All Classes” page on the top right of the page. Clicking it creates confetti and gives a message. It is next to the “Add Class” tab in the main page.
the lego build with google one has been closed as of March 2019 I just tried it so that one is a bummer.
Yyyyyyyyaaaaaayyyyyyy i love easter eggs especially with chocolate inside
Since you included the 3d easter egg and the valentines easter egg, you need to include everything, that can be drawn by graphs.
It is sort of forgivable though, as not everyone knows that.
But you missed the most important graph:
2*sqrt(-abs(abs(x)-1)*abs(3-abs(x))/((abs(x)-1)*(3-abs(x))))(1+abs(abs(x)-3)/(abs(x)-3))sqrt(1-(x/7)^2)+(5+0.97(abs(x-.5)+abs(x+.5))-3(abs(x-.75)+abs(x+.75)))(1+abs(1-abs(x))/(1-abs(x))),-3sqrt(1-(x/7)^2)sqrt(abs(abs(x)-4)/(abs(x)-4)),abs(x/2)-0.0913722(x^2)-3+sqrt(1-(abs(abs(x)-2)-1)^2),(2.71052+(1.5-.5abs(x))-1.35526sqrt(4-(abs(x)-1)^2))sqrt(abs(abs(x)-1)/(abs(x)-1))+0.9
The Batman graph!
So I searched up “Wizard of Oz”, I clicked on the shoes and the animation happened but when it turned black for some reason a person face timed me and when I did the animation again I was calling him. Can you help me?
I noticed that some of these don’t work for me…is it possible you know why? The text adventure one is the main one that doesn’t work, but the zerg rush one doesn’t either. And the “what is nothing” and “sonic the hedgehog” ones are updated on mine, nothing now has a picture that isn’t’ complete black, and sonic doesn’t have a gif.
Hey! So, for the Sonic one, you now have to type “Sonic the Hedgehog Game” so that it gives you the game series instead of the movie. For “What is Nothing,” I’m not entirely sure about that one. Maybe they replaced the empty photo with a black background photo (an actual photo)? You have to click Sonic for him to do the animation, but after he turns Super, clicking him does nothing. When Zerg Rush got removed, a website called elgooG recreated it, they’re pretty good at preserving easter eggs that get removed. I hope this helps!
Theres an easter egg exclusive to mobile where searching “bubble level” opens a bubble level test tab.
There’s a second LGBT pride easter egg. In a Google Drive empty spreadsheet, typing P, R, I, D, and E in respective columns A, B, C, D, and E, then clicking the first box in F (but not typing anything), the spreadsheet will color itself into a rainbow pattern.
Check out into the harry potter ones.
i know a trick. if you play a loadable game SO MUCH (like a 100 hours) it will appear in shortcut screen to play it without internet.
Sacul, do you know where any websites to watch videos if youtube is blocked? I also LOVE Game Theory too. CatPat and Matpat are my 2 favorites.
There is another Easter egg of google that yo didn’t list and that is if you search the Infinity Gauntlet on google there is an Infinity Gauntlet in the corner.
If You Type “awesome” while watching an youtube video the seek the hd sign and the cc sign will change color.
Pretty Much all of mine were blocked
YET
Google won’t search for Chuck Norris because it knows you don’t find Chuck Norris, he finds you.
Your search – Chuck Norris – did not match any documents.
Suggestions:
Run, before he finds you.
Try a different person.
Try someone less dangerous.
You guys are still updating this, right? Because you included the Pirate language, but there are also Hacker, Bork Bork Bork, Elmer Fudd, and Klingon languages.
Yes, we’re keep on updating it 😉
I spent an hour on here. also 69th comment
